My completely unfounded hunch based anecdotal observation is that humans naturally fall into a few categories:

1. Highly monogamous. 1 lifetime partner, maybe 2. About 30% of the population.

2. Serial monogamists. Lifetime number of partners will probably be between 3 to 10. Might have a handful of one- night-stands, but generally are naturally inclined to serial monogamy. About 50% of the population.

3. High sociosexual people. Body count 15 and above. These people either rapidly move between relationships, or are just poly or open. If they are in a relationship, they’re much more likely to cheat. Not strongly mentally ill. They’re extroverted, charismatic people that just like to fuck a lot. Probably 5% of the population, but more common in men. I’ve met a couple of women like this, but they’re rare.

4. High body count people who are not actually highly sociosexual. These are people who either have some sort of mental health issue or addiction that leads them to make highly impulsive decisions. Alcoholics, drug addicts, people with bipolar disorder, etc. The interesting thing about these people is that I have observed some cases where they’re able to move from a pattern of highly non-monogamous behavior to strict monogamy once their underlying issue is addressed. Probably 10% of the population. Most high-body count women I’ve met fall into this group.
